Find answers to your most common accident repair questions.

Q. How long will my vehicle repairs take?

A. The length of time can vary based on insurance approval, your parts order, and how complicated the repairs are. We work as efficiently as possible, and aim to have even the most challenging repairs completed in under two weeks. Need to get the ball rolling? Contact us to request an estimate.

Q. What services do you offer at Kalawsky Collision?

A. We’re a full-service auto body and glass replacement shop, specializing in dent removal, body paint, parts, glass services, and so much more. Head to our body shop and glass replacement pages to view our full list of services!

Q. Can you customize my vehicle?

A. Kalawsky Collision Centre specializes in accident repairs. Unfortunately, we are not offering custom auto body services at this time.

Q. How much will my repairs cost?

A. Each case is unique. As an independent business, we’re not tied to dealership pricing and we offer fair estimates for quality work.

Q. My car is a write-off. Now what?

A. We share ownership with nearby Castlegar Toyota, Castlegar Kia, Castlegar Hyundai, Kalawsky Chevrolet Buick GMC, and Nelson Toyota! We will be happy to connect you with one of our partners who can further assist in helping you find a fantastic new or used vehicle.

Q. Can I stay within the Kalawsky family for more services?

A. You absolutely can! Our Castlegar dealerships listed above all offer unbeatable vehicle maintenance and repair services, or if you find yourself in the Nelson area, you can also visit Nelson Toyota. Once you’re part of the family, we strive to take care of you for life. Whether you need auto body repairs, maintenance services, help with vehicle financing, or a reliable new vehicle, there is a Kalawsky facility that can help.

Q. I have a unique vehicle and/or paint colour. Will my repairs stand out?

A. Only the team here at Kalawsky will ever know that your vehicle was in an accident! We use reliable parts and can match even the rarest factory paint colours. We also have a brand-new paint booth with state-of-the-art colour matching technology. You’ll drive away in a vehicle that looks and feels fresh off the line. Check out our gallery to see some of our work!

Q. Are you ICBC certified?

A. Yes! We’re a Tier 1 ICBC Accredited Body Shop, with many years of experience handling ICBC-specific claims. No need to search the ICBC database looking for a certified collision facility - simply come visit us here at Kalawsky Collision Centre!

Q. What should I expect from the insurance process?

A. Our team prides itself on not only repairing and restoring vehicles to like-new condition, but also in providing the best customer experience in the West Kootenays. We’ll be with you from start to finish, managing up to 90% of the insurance claim process. Visit our ICBC Services page to learn more about the insurance process and our credentials as a Tier 1 collision facility.

Q. Do I need an appointment?

A. Although an appointment is helpful, it’s not necessary. Many body shops are strict about their appointment-only policies, but we prefer to be flexible and understanding towards the needs of our customers. If booking an appointment works best for you, please feel free to contact us with your preferred days and times.

Q. Are car repairs tax-deductible?

A. Yes, some car repairs are tax-deductible. After your insurance company has covered its share of the claim, you may be able to submit any remaining out-of-pocket expenses during tax season. We'll be happy to supply you with detailed receipts for all completed work that you can submit when you prepare your taxes.

Q. I lease my vehicle. What should I do?

A. It’s typically in your best interest to repair your car before returning it at the end of the lease. The dealership can charge upwards of double for any damages, and most only waive a few small dents and scratches - you’re responsible for the rest. We’ll speak with your insurance company about your options, and can look over your lease agreement with you to ensure you take the best course of action possible.

Q. Why is it important to use reliable parts?

A. It’s strongly recommended that your vehicle is repaired using reliable parts that are engineered to meet the specific needs of your make and model, helping your ride look and run its best for years to come.

Q. Can I drop by for rust-proofing?

A. At this time, we’re not offering rust-proofing services here at Kalawsky Collision, but our partner dealerships at Castlegar Toyota, Castlegar Kia, Castlegar Hyundai, Kalawsky Chevrolet Buick GMC, and Nelson Toyota sure do! Contact your preferred dealership to learn more!
